Great video, I remember all of these from back when I started in the industry, building and selling systems. They where simpler times :)
Love the circa 1990's Jungle tune at the begining, and the name of the user for Windows 95. And as many on YouTube have spotted in the search bar, horse p*rn :) nice touch.
Andy another great vid and i saw that your friend that let you borrow his computer had Mechwarrior 4: Mercs, surprisingly enough i have that game also.
Fantastic video - articulate and absolutely spot on throughout!!
One thing to mention as well...I used IE4 Active Desktop and I loved it, especially as it meant that I was able to enjoy Windows 98 like features (bar USB support and Dial Up Networking) without having to forgoe the solid Windows 95a OS!! Also, back then Freeserve Internet (now bust) gave IE4 with all their free trial discs and it installed Active Desktop by default. This caused huge issues with Freeserves logo being imprinted instead of IE's default "Squiggle", even in personal documents, explorer and such!!
I even recall one ISP including IE4 but advising to choose No when prompted to install Active Desktop!!
Interestingly you missed out some other extras of IE5. It didn't include Active Desktop, so if you went from IE3 to IE5, it would not be included. However, IE5 did scrap that ghastly "Active Movie Control/Player" and thus was the first bundled appearance of Windows Media Player before Windows 98 SE.
I love your comparison to IE9 - absolute spot on...its interface is a rip off from Chrome....
Thanks for nice info! Looking forward for your updates and try insurance like cheap insurance quotes online, also instant auto insurance quotes are available.

ReplyDeleteMan I really enjoy watching these, keep it up. Its a good way to learn some tech that I didn't know.
ReplyDeleteI have a question. With so many "experiments" what's the operating system that you use on a daily basis?
ReplyDeleteWhat about doing the same experiment on mac and safari, side by side with this video ?
ReplyDeleteNice video.
ReplyDeleteToo bad IE 9 is still useless since it still has no spell checker.
